The NBA world lost its collective mind over the weekend with a blockbuster trade sending Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers and Anthony Davis to the Dallas Mavericks. Doncic has played in just 22 games this season while dealing with a calf issue, but is reportedly “ramping up his rehab,” and could be back before the NBA’s All-Star break starting Feb 14. Davis, meanwhile, is working on an abdominal strain and it is unclear how long he’ll be out. According to NBA insider Shams Charania, Doncic and Davis were as surprised as everyone else about the deal.
“This deal materialized in the shadows. This came out of nowhere,” Charania said. “I can assuredly tell you as a fact, LeBron James had no idea this was coming. Anthony Davis had no idea this was coming. I’m told Luka Doncic is still stunned by this trade.”
