The Boston Bruins and starting goalie Jeremy Swayman spent the entire summer locked in an ugly contract dispute as the two sides tried to reach an agreement on a new long-term contract.
They finally reached that agreement on Sunday morning, just days before the start of the season.
It is an eight-year deal worth $8.25M per season, which will make Swayman one of the highest paid goalies in the NHL. His $8.25M salary cap number is now the fifth-largest in the NHL, trailing only the semi-retired Carey Price (Montreal), Sergei Bobrovsky (Florida), Andrei Vasilevskiy (Tampa Bay) and Connor Hellebuyck (Winnipeg).
