As Kevin Patra of the NFL’s website shared, pass-rusher Jared Verse attended Central Columbia High School in Bloomberg, Pennsylvania, for three years before the Los Angeles Rams selected him as a 2024 first-round draft pick and before he became the frontrunner for the Defensive Rookie of the Year Award this season.
Those high school experiences left Verse with a strong opinion about Philadelphia Eagles fans, feelings he made known ahead of Sunday’s playoff game between the Rams and Eagles held at Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field.
“I hate Eagles fans,” Verse told Gary Klein of the Los Angeles Times on Thursday. “They’re so annoying. I hate Eagles fans.”
While the Rams hosted the Eagles in Week 12, Verse heard obscenities and other unkind words from the numerous Philadelphia supporters who flocked to SoFi Stadium that Sunday. The Eagles ultimately won 37-20 over the hosts.
“I didn’t even do nothing to ’em,” Verse explained. “It was my first time playing. Oh, I hate Eagles fans.”
Home fans can disrupt an opposing offense by making it difficult for wide receivers and others to hear calls made by a quarterback at the line of scrimmage. Logic suggests Verse and his defensive teammates shouldn’t hear too many roars unless they give up big plays or scores, but he nevertheless doesn’t seem thrilled about making a return to the “Keystone State” this weekend.
“When I see that green and white, I hate it,” Verse added during his comments. “I actually get upset. Like I actually genuinely get hot.”
As of Friday morning, DraftKings Sportsbook listed the Rams as six-point underdogs against the Eagles. Verse and Co. will look to keep Philadelphia fans quiet en route to earning an upset win on Sunday afternoon.
