Travis Hunter will likely be one of the top players in the 2025 NFL Draft, and it is no secret why.
The former Colorado star was a full-time starter at wide receiver and cornerback. He caught 96 passes for 1,258 yards and 15 touchdowns at Colorado last season. Hunter had 35 total tackles, four interceptions and a forced fumble defensively.
Still, the NFL team that drafts Hunter will likely want him to focus on one position. With the Tennessee Titans almost certain to take a quarterback at No. 1 overall, here is a look at the teams with the best shot at landing Hunter and where they would be best off using him.
Cleveland Browns: Wide receiver
The Browns have plenty of needs coming off a 3-14 season, but their cornerback group is rock solid. Denzel Ward has been one of the best corners in the NFL since Cleveland drafted him in 2018. Martin Emerson Jr. and nickel corner Greg Newsome II are also quality players.
Wide receiver is not nearly as great of a strength for the Browns. Jerry Jeudy led the way with 90 catches for 1,299 yards and four touchdowns last season, but there is no consistency beyond him. While Cedric Tillman showed flashes of big-play ability last year, Hunter would have a chance to immediately step in as Cleveland’s top option in the passing game.
New York Giants: Cornerback
The Giants have a stud wide receiver in Malik Nabers, who should benefit further from playing with Russell Wilson. New York has two other viable starters at the position in Wan’Dale Robinson and Darius Slayton.
The Giants signed cornerback Paulson Adebo to a three-year, $54M contract last month. Former first-round pick Deonte Banks is coming into his own. In a league where you can never have enough cornerback depth, Hunter could instantly transform the Giants’ secondary into one of the best in the NFL.
New England Patriots: Wide receiver
On paper, the Patriots have one of the best cornerback duos in the NFL. Christian Gonzalez is a stud, and Carlton Davis III signed a three-year, $60M deal with the team this offseason. Marcus Jones is a reliable nickel corner, too.
Sure, the Patriots finally made a big splash at wide receiver when they signed Stefon Diggs, but he is coming off a torn ACL and on the wrong side of 30. Mack Hollins was another decent free-agent addition, but is it enough? Drake Maye needs a lot more help in the passing game, which Hunter could provide.
Jacksonville Jaguars: Take your pick
The Jaguars have major defensive line issues, but it would be hard for them to pass on Hunter at No. 5 overall. While veteran defensive back Jourdan Lewis signed a three-year, $30M deal in free agency, this defense ranked dead last in the NFL last season with 257.4 passing yards allowed per game.
Wide receiver is a big question for Jacksonville as well. Brian Thomas Jr. was dominant as a rookie with 87 catches, 1,282 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns, but there isn’t much certainty beyond him. Gabe Davis missed all of last season with a torn meniscus. If Hunter truly wants to play snaps on both offense and defense, Jacksonville is a team that might be willing to let him do it.
