On Saturday, the Philadelphia Eagles officially activated defensive end Brandon Graham from injured reserve in time for Super Bowl LIX. Graham has been sidelined since November due to a torn triceps injury that was expected to end his season.
Graham has been a key member of the Eagles’ defense since 2010. If he plays on Sunday, it will be his third Super Bowl with the team.
He recorded 3.5 sacks in 11 games with the Eagles this season before the injury.
Being activated for the game does not guarantee he will play — or play much — but he was a full participant in practice this week, and the fact that Philadelphia is adding him back to the active roster is a good indication that they hope to at least get something from him.
But expectations should be limited.
Graham is not only working on recovering from a major injury but was also mainly serving as a role player this season, even before his injury. If the Eagles can get a few snaps from him, it would likely provide a morale lift for the rest of the roster.
The 36-year-old has had 76.5 sacks in 206 career games and helped the Eagles win the Super Bowl in 2017.
