Aaron Rodgers may have a standing offer from the New York Giants but according to one draft expert, the team won’t stand pat in their search for a new quarterback.
Currently, the Titans have the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, but John Kosko of Pro Football Focus has the Giants making what he calls a “titanic move” by trading up with Tennessee for Miami quarterback Cam Ward in his latest mock draft.
The cost, he thinks, will be a pair of first-round picks, including this year’s No. 3 pick, with second- and third-round picks in 2026. That’s quite a haul, but Kosko clearly believes Ward is worth the price.
“After seeing Daniel Jones record just 26 big-time throws over the past four seasons, head coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen need to bring in a playmaker to provide a spark.” Kosko says, “Ward racked up 31 big-time throws in 2024 alone and fits what Daboll likes in a mobile quarterback.”
Ward threw for 6,968 yards and 48 touchdowns in two years with Washington State and set single-season marks for touchdowns (39), yards (4,313) and completion percentage (67.2) with the Hurricanes in 2024.
Prior to that, Ward spent two years at the University of the Incarnate Word, a FCS program where he set career records in passing yards (6,908) and touchdowns (71) while establishing single-game records of 610 yards and seven scores.
At 6-foot-2 and 223 pounds, Ward has the size general managers are looking for in an NFL quarterback and the arm strength as well. PFF’s Nick Akridge believes Ward has one of the best arms in college football with the velocity needed to throw the ball into tight windows.
He’s also impressed with Ward’s ability to throw with anticipation.
“He quickly understands the looks defenses are giving him and plays on time,” Akridge says, “which led to him having the highest clean pocket PFF grade among draft-eligible quarterbacks.”
Ward didn’t throw at the NFL Scouting Combine but is scheduled to take part in Miami’s Pro Day on March 24. There, scouts can take a closer look at the young star and receive feedback from teammates who all speak highly of their quarterback.
“He’s the ultimate guy, ultimate teammate,” Miami tight end Elijah Arroyo told USA Today’s Nate Davis. “Everybody sees what he does on the field and his confidence and everything.”
“Playing with Cam Ward was great,” Hurricanes receiver Jacolby George said. “He came into the program, he changed it all, we all learned from him and we just became one once he got into the facility.”
