If there was any doubt about where he sees himself playing during the 2025 NFL season, Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill did his best to remove any of it on Friday.
Hill told ProFootballTalk that he wants to stay with the Dolphins and he’s going to “bust my tail” to make sure it is a better season.
More from Hill, via PFT:
“I’m taking full accountability of what I said,” Hill said. “I don’t deserve to say anything like that. They’ve been very good to me so why am I going to go out and say some of the things that I said and I fully take it back.”
It’s a big statement from Hill because in the immediate aftermath of a disappointing 2024 season, he suggested that he already had the door open when it came to leaving and perhaps seeking a trade this offseason.
The Dolphins missed the playoffs with an 8-9 record, with Hill having an especially down year (by his standards).
He caught 81 passes, a drop of 38 from the 2023 season, for 959 yards and six touchdowns.
The absence of starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa for so many games certainly played a big role in Hill’s massive drop in production, but even with Tagovailoa in the lineup he did not seem to be the same big-play target that he was earlier in his career. Especially in his first two years with the Dolphins.
He caught 119 passes in each of his first two years with the team, while also topping the 1,200-yard mark each season. That included a league-leading 1,799 yards during the 2023 season.
If nothing else, Hill’s recommitment to the team is one less headache the Dolphins have to worry about this offseason. Hill can still be one of the top wide receivers in the league, and the offense is better with him playing at his best and applying pressure to opposing defenses. If he had remained committed to leaving, it would have complicated an already important offseason as the Dolphins work to get back in the playoffs.
